Early in 2005, Owner and operator Steven Shale kicked off Steve's Diesel service. A local service offering quality workmanship, knowledge and expertise in all things marine diesel related. Within no time this thriving business needed to expand to keep up with demand. In mid 2009 Marine Diesel Pty Ltd was formed to specialize in marine diesel engine maintenance, installations and sales. It went on to become Australia and New Zealand’s largest selling specialist John Deere marine engine dealer.

In 2018 Marine Diesel signed an agreement with Nanni Diesel of France to be the sole Australian distributor for their range of marine engines based on John Deere. This arrangement also gave access to the full range of Nanni marine propulsion engines from 10 to 1900 horsepower and gensets from 6 kW to 600 kW.
