Huntress

Our mechanics work on range of vessels that vary in make, model, size, application and class. Once in a while comes along the oppportunity to work on what can only be discribed as a unique and luxurious super yacht. Our latest repower was that just that. Huntress, a one of a kind, built by Dittmar & Donaldson in 1984, has been continuously upgraded with state-of-the-art amenities and equipment.

Huntress accommodates six guests in three double state rooms. The full width master suite has a king size bed, entertainment system, telephone, marble top dressers, ship's safe and large his and her closets. The two ensuite master baths have marble countertops and flooring. His is furnished with a large shower, hers a jacuzzi tub. It is the height of luxury for anyone wanting to experience cruising at its very best.

Our repower involved replacing Twin 525 hp diesels Caterpillar 3408TAs, with twin John Deere 6135SFM75 engines. Pictures are availalbe in our gallery or by clicking HERE

oberon bay

The Oberon Bay, a Randall 32, came to us late last year in desperate need of a makeover. The existing Volvo AQAD40A engines were old, tired and definately in need of replacing. With a top speed of 18 knotts, its owner was keen to upgrade to a package with a lot more grunt.

Often the case with older vessels and new diesel engines, the cost of repowering can quickly outweigh the market value of the vessel itself. In this situation a good alternative can be reconditioned or serviced second hand engines.

The owner of the Oberon Bay did his research, and with a little help from Steve he settled on pair of serviced second hand Steyr MO246K41, 240Hp engines with Mercruiser Bravo III drives and Solas stainless props. With a new top speed of 32 knotts, a smoother, quieter and more powerful ride have made one very happy customer.

IET

CHECK THIS OUT.....

This is the "IETA". An 80ft custom design and built power catamaran with massive WOW factor. This incredible vessel is long-time dream and now reality for Owner / Designer / Builder Marc Deborde.

When Marc first set out to build his dream catamaran he set some pretty high standards. It had to be fast, energy efficient, comfortable, self- sufficient, minimal noise output and capable of taking on the high seas.

Naturally on such a exciting and challenging project, choosing the perfect engine to meet Marc’s goals for this majestic machine was central to the overall success of the project. That's when Marc turned to Marine Diesel. After much discussion and advice from Steve, a twin engine package featuring John Deere 6068SFM50 was supplied by Marine Diesel and sent off to their new home in the hull of the IETA .

After several years of planning, designing, building and installations and a lot of blood, sweat and tears the "IETA" has taken to the seas. Recently Marc took his dream Catamaran on its maiden voyage off the coast of Noumea.

For the full story about the "IETA", check out the feature article via the link below to the John Deere Marine Power Source Magazine. There is even a mention of our very own Mr Steven Shale.
